Anand Mahindra, Chairman of automaker Mahindra and Mahindra, expressed his excitement about the upcoming Formula E Prix in Hyderabad, Telangana. His team, Mahindra Racing, will be participating for the first time on home soil on February 11, 2023. In a tweet, Mahindra stated, “I feel super excited about finally racing in front of the home crowd” and urged India to give a “billion cheers” to his team.
Formula E, also known as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, is a single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars that began in 2011 in Paris. The Telangana government and FIA have partnered with private firm Ace Nxt Gen to host the race, which will have eleven teams participating from around the world. The event in Hyderabad is the fourth round of the 9th season and will be held there for the next four years, according to The Indian Express.
The Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad, C.V. Anand, along with FIA officials, inspected the track on February 2. The first shipment of eight Formula E Gen-3 electric race cars and their components arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on February 1, 2023.
