The drone show will highlight Telangana’s top tourist destinations.
HYDERABAD: Telangana Tourism will sponsor a two-day drone-centric event that blends Makar Sankranti’s traditional kite-flying spirit with high-speed drone racing on January 16 and 17 at Gachibowli Stadium.
TGTDC Managing Director Kranti Valluru told Deccan Chronicle that a virtual tourism experience centre will also be set up at the venue. “The drone show will promote tourist destinations across Telangana,” she said.
The festival, officially titled WhoopMasters Drone Day – Hyderabad Chapter Showcase Race, is being sponsored by Telangana Tourism as part of its efforts to showcase the state through innovative and immersive experiences.
The stadium’s outdoor field will be transformed into an LED-lit racecourse for the event. WhoopMasters India, which has conducted over 16 national-level races in compliance with MultiGP standards, said the showcase has been designed as a premier spectator sport.
Key attractions include Standard FPV Racing, where pilots manoeuvre five-inch FPV drones at speeds exceeding 100 kmph; Drone Soccer, a team-based aerial sport featuring drones enclosed in protective spherical cages; and Endurance FPV Racing, a relay-format competition that tests pilots’ stamina and strategy over extended laps.
Freestyle drone stunts and synchronised drone light shows will further add to the spectacle.
